Dr. Allman earned his veterinary degree from Texas A&M University and pursued further training through a 1-year internship at the University of Georgia, a surgical internship at the Dallas Veterinary Surgical Center, and a 3-year surgical residency at Michigan State University Veterinary Teaching Hospital. Specializing in minimally invasive surgery and canine sports medicine, he completed his residency and became an assistant professor at Michigan State University, teaching the main surgery course.

Since 2012, he has owned and operated Mobile Veterinary Specialist in his hometown of Austin; a mobile team of specialist surgeons, who support vet clinics by giving them the opportunity to offer specialist orthopedic surgery to their clients in the comfort and convenience of their primary veterinary facility. Now partnering with nationally and internationally renowned board-certified veterinarian surgeons he has built and established the VROC specialty surgical hospital.

In his time out of the operating room, he can be found enjoying the great outdoors, and exploring Austin with his wife Summer and their five children.

Ruben has been an integral part of the veterinary medicine community since 2010. With a background as a marine biologist and experience in training marine mammals, he discovered his passion for veterinary medicine while founding animal husbandry programs alongside Zoo Veterinarians.

Since then, Ruben has dedicated himself to mastering the veterinary profession. Starting as a veterinary technician specializing in surgery and advancing to a practice manager. His deep compassion for all animals has driven him to lead teams in non-profit shelter medicine and mobile specialty surgery. He is always striving for the best outcomes regardless of an animal’s background.
